Movies: What's a film that you think is misunderstood?

You know, people comprehending it incorrectly. Either by critics or
the general public.

My example is the 1996 movie Romeo + Juliet, directed by pop culture
fanatic Baz Lurahamn. For those who don't know, it was adapted to a
modern day setting. People just assumed that he was 'dumbing the play
down for teenagers' 'made it more mainstream' when really, he was just
following his artistic intentions. Moulin Rouge! shut those critics
mouths, so that made me happy

So what's a film that you think people don't understand properly,
misintrepret it, etc?

BQ: Last good movie you watched?
BBQ: Are you going to be seeing the new HP film?
